Slowly but surely
Thanks for checking in! The new record is coming along, as the title suggests, slowly but surely. We’ve got all of the instrumental tracks done; now we’re on to some preliminary mixing before I lay down my vocals. My producer and guitarist Mark Marshall has been absolutely brilliant to work with; without him I would not have been able to realize many of the sounds I’ve had in my head for these songs. I don’t want to say too much about those sounds - not that I can quite do it justice anyway - but I think some folks are going to be surprised by what they hear. We’re taking our time to get these songs right, but I’m also really excited to share them.
On the live music front, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a number of artists as a sideman, taking advantage of the nice weather to play mostly outdoor events. I’ve been playing somewhat regularly with Robert Whaley (of classic NYC act The Niagaras), often as part of his weekly residency at Barrow’s, in Brooklyn’s Industry City. In addition, I’m doing a special one-off solo show on Sunday, October 31 where I’ll get to play some of the new songs. The show is presented by the Institute for Living Judaism in Brooklyn, as part of their series “Cultivating Our Culture: The Arts of Judaism”. I’m honored to be their featured artist on the 31st, and excited to perform at Flatbush Jewish Center, a place that is very near and dear to my heart. The show starts at 4, and is free to all (though a donation to ILJB is always welcome - www.iljb.org). Vaccines and masks for all in attendance, please (and thanks for doing your part).
Lastly, I realize that I don’t post on here very often - for more frequent updates, I suggest following me on Facebook or Instagram, as I share content and news primarily on those two platforms. More to be announced soon!
